| - The drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will continue their pre-Chase schedule on Sunday in the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway.Jamie McMurray will be looking to make it two straight wins on Sunday, as he took the checkered flag on the weekend in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.Kevin Harvick ended up in the second place at Indy, followed by Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Tony Stewart, Jeff Burton, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, and Kurt Busch. Matt Kenseth was 12th at Indy, Denny Hamlin was 15th, Jimmie Johnson was 22nd, and Jeff Gordon ended up in 23rd place. Harvick has a 184-point lead on Gordon in the driver standings after 20 races, with Hamlin, Johnson, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Burton, Kenseth, Stewart, Edwards, Biffle, and Bowyer also above the Chase cutoff line.Mark Martin is 13th in the standings, 62 points behind 12th-place Bowyer. Dale Earnhardt Jr. sits in 14th place, 93 points back of the final Chase spot.Hamlin won the Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500 at Pocono back in June, and he's also the defending Pennsylvania 500 champion. Hamlin swept the two Pocono races during the 2006 season as well.Gordon has four career Cup wins at Pocono, while Johnson, Stewart, Edwards, and Kurt Busch have two each. Kasey Kahne and Ryan Newman have one Cup win apiece on the track. After racing at Pocono the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will move on to Watkins Glen for the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen on Sunday, August 8. The month's calendar will also feature races at Michigan (August 15) and Bristol (August 21). |
